From the Original Character Awards

The judges wrote their thoughts on each story nominated. (I didn't know where else to put this, but I wanted to keep their feedback, because it meant a lot to me.)

Absent Imprint: Leah's Story by IamKate

OC Name: DylanPairing:
OC/LeahRating: M
Genre: Canon
Chapters: 16

Summary: Leah has been hurt one too many times in the past. When she finally meets the guy who can make her forget it all, she must decide whether to let him go, or risk her heart and give their love a chance. CANON/OC

What our judges had to say: The subject of imprinting is a sensitive one. It toys with free will and though a lot of us wouldn't mind having a wolf imprint on us, would we really want our choice taken away? Absent Imprint deals with this matter. As Leah falls for Dylan, who isn't her imprint, can she give herself to him completely? Is it fair on Dylan to do so? If your choice can be taken from you at any moment, do you live in fear of that or do you defy it and take a chance?

Healing Hands by IamKate

OC Name: Jenny
Pairing: Jacob/Nessie
Rating: MGenre: AH
Chapters: 15 (Complete)

Summary: Jacob Black stood by as the woman he loved, Bella, married another man. Years later, Jake's injured in an accident. The only one who can help him recover is his god-daughter Nessie…Bella's daughter who happens to be in love with her much older friend. AH

What our judges had to say: Jenny is the perfect companion in this excellent Jake/Renesmee story. Jenny's maturity, snark and willingness to confront her boss – Jake – on matters of plot and characterization (nicely done by the author) are unique. She's capable and even gets her own romance subplot in the story that sweetened her. While not essential to the story, Jenny livens it up and gives it color and depth.
